You can get the source code for this firmware on this site.
http://wrt54g.serwer.net/
Wouldnt be great to have kaid included into this firmware. I thought i would have to choose between the kai station firmware and the alchemy, but with this source code, u should be able to compile kaistation into these builds.
Just a thought for prestige |

even though its built on linux, are people allowed to take someone elses firmware and add your feature to rerelease it. because i though you couldn't sell linux yet i saw SUSE Pro for $79, i guess thats 1 expensive user manual it comes with |

you can easily download any linux distro you want for free (it's illegal to sell software based on GPL'd sources). it's not the linux distro you'd be buying, it's the support from the distributers. as for whether or not you're allowed to manipulate someone else's source, that's part of the point of releasing the source code as well as the GPL. |

close, but no cigar...
(IANAL so don't take this as legal advice...)
It is legal to sell gpl'd software so long as you also provide the source code for the software to your customers. however, your customers may then distribute the software to anyone they wish as long as they also provide the software. Open source doesn't mean free, it means open. Most linux vendors provide free disc images of their baseline distro for anyone to download. However, these versions do not usually include software that one normally pays for... such as StarOffice... where the $49 version might include it. |

there is a copy of a bios based off of the publicly released sveasoft source that has kaid support, it's called DD-WRT and it's free with alot of the Alchemy features and kaid all rolled up in one. |

Is there a benefit to that DD-WRT over just running the KAID binary on the Alchemy firmware? |
