the script allows to close the telnet window without closing the kaid process and allows the kaid process to start after a reboot of the wrt

Well, this would be the next step, if kaid would not give segmentation faults by itself all the time. If it doesn't work manualy it can't work with yor scrit or am I wron?

Hi,
over telnet without using -deamon it works pretty!
on the RC1 it won't run over webpage script!

So, only one problem is the Deamon feature which does not work! If Kai group can fix this problem, all other problems should be solved also!

@Kai Dev's
Please try to fix the Deamon problem!

Regards

bernienoel -

Hey I was hoping you could help me with the daemon. I put the script in for the Satori Alchemy RC firmware under diagnostics, and hit save startup. It rebooted, but then -stupid mistake- I realized that I didn't put MY xbox's mac address into your script. When I go back to the diag tab, I don't see my previous script that I entered, so I cannot remove the incorrect startup script. Is there any way to remove it? I know I could just re-enter your script with my correct xbox mac address, but my concern is that if I left the old one in there, then I'd have two versions of KAID loading, which would probably cause some sort of conflict. Do you have any ideas how I can fix this?

Thanks!

sure, but won't it load the old configuration at the same time? Meaning two kaid processes will run at once = conflict? No way to remove the old one? thanks again

ah that's great news. So there is only one startup script? Not some sort of startup "container" folder with multiple items?

thanks again

Well okay, I flashed back to Alchemy-6.0-RC1.w42 V2.04.4.8sv, executed your script manualy, and what can I say: IT WORKS! Smile
The difference is: I startet kaid in demon mode and w/o handing the configuration file via parameter (having a default configuration in the startup dir). The demon mode and/or the handling of default configurations seems to be somewhat critical... Thank you!
P.S.: Ah, and I added my username and password to the conf file, perhaps this is a cause for segmentation faulting, too...

Now to the next point: I pasted the script into Administration - Diagnostics and saved it as startup script. But no matter if I reboot via telnet or if I switch the router of and on: The script won't be executed on startup time (kaid is not visible via ps and the XBMC support does not work.) This is not a very big problem, as it workes, too, if I start the script via telnet once after rebooting manualy, as the & leaved the kaid active even after closing the telnet connection.

But I would like to know now, what might be the problem with my startup saving? I have the impression, that the saving is somewhat too fast, as there has to be some kind of ROM flashing to have the script permanent, or am I wrong? Also: If I paste the script into the textbox and push the "cmd" button, I get no answers and the script will be executed very fast, the time is too short for all the downloading stuff, that should be executed... Any ideas?

i changed the order of the lines and it worked... so there has to be a speed problem ... but now it works quite well (after I return to XBMC, it takes a looong time to connect to KAI again...)

i only used the alchemy rc3lw03.1 and i have no problem with the startup script

When I add the script to startup, it looks like both the kaid.conf and kaid files are there in the tmp dir after startup, but both are empty files when I check them. If I run the lines of the script from TELNET it works fine and the wget is successful. I tried adding WAIT lines in between, but it didn't help. Any thoughts?

Basically I launch kai, it goes, says everything is alright then shuts down, and I lose my telnet session. Details are below:

In the console:

# ./kaid
KAI: Reading settings from kaid.conf
CONFIG: Downloading settings from http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/connector/clientget
config.php...
CONFIG: 4 orbital(s) available...
KAI: Kai for KaiStation now starting...
KAI: Listening for UI's on 192.168.0.1:34522
KAI: Added 1 device(s) to engine cache.
PKTSNIFF: Setting up packet sniffer...
PKTSNIFF: Applying pcap filter 'ether src 00:50:2c:04:a0:eb'
PKTSNIFF: Everything set with packet sniffer...
KAI: Kai daemon shutting down...

Connection to host lost.

Here is what the configuration file looks like:

UIBind = 192.168.0.1:34522
OrbPort = 34525
EngineBind = :37500
SniffDevice = br0
ConsoleMacs = 00:50:2c:04:a0:eb
#Protocol = 4
ConfigURL = http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/connector/clientgetconfig.php
Username = xxxxxx
Password = xxxxx
AutoLogin = 1
IgnoreTCP = 1

you don't have to specify the IP
you don't have to specify username & password

you just have to enter your console mac adress in the conf file !

why don't you try the scripts posted on page 1 or 2 ?

As reported, (nearly) everything works fine now, if kaid is started in the way, bernienoels script sugested.

But it seems to be somewhat instable. After some hours of running in my WRT54, it seems to vanish, I don't know, what's happening there. It is not visible via ps -aX anymore, and the kai functionality does not work in XBMC. Does the WRT reboot by itself on some events? This would produce this result, as I was not able to install the script as startup script...

I have the Alchemy 6 ROM in my WRT54..

Ok, this works (upgraded to latest Satori firmware as well) the only missing link at this point is that the xbox still doesn't see games when I launch from XMBC (this WAS working on my pc). I did forward port 30000 to my router 192.168.01. Also my XBOX MAC address was put into the script as it should be.

hey all. i'm currently running Alchemy 6.0 RC1 and i have kaid up and running fine.

i have two xboxes at home, one is hardwired into the wrt54g and the other is wireless via an airport express.

i found when i add the 2nd xbox's mac address pcktsniff will quit nearly as soon as i attempt to navigate in arena mode with jkaiui. when i remove the 2nd mac address it seems to work much better.

i can see multiple games and even join them. for some reason as soon as i start playing, or a minute into the game (this is on my wired xbox) kaid will segfault. i'm not sure why...

i found that vlan0 wouldn't work for me, it also produced a segfault, i have sniffdevice set to br0. it's the only thing that seems to work.

not sure what to do. since i have a mac i was praying this would work nicely as the mac version is very unstable.

thanks

How did you start kaid on the WRT? Did you use the commands suggested in the script found in this thread?

If you start kaid like this:
/tmp/kaid -c /tmp/kaid.conf &
it won't produce segfaults.

And: As far as I know, kaid doesn't support two guis attached (read: two xboxes) at the same time. This might be your segfault problem?
