We have confirmed that backwards compatible original Xbox games that support system link are playable using XLink Kai on the Xbox One.
If your Xbox One console is not being detected by XLink Kai (under Metrics), we may need to add your Xbox One MAC address range to our servers.
If you do not see the first six characters of your Xbox One wired MAC address in the list below, please post a photo of the first six characters of your Xbox One MAC address in this thread. Wireless MAC addresses are not required because XLink Kai only supports Xbox wired connections.

After many long years, it appears that Xbox games may become popular again on XLink Kai. Since the old Xbox Live servers are no longer operational, services like XLink Kai are more important than ever to bring gamers together to play their favorite classic games. We look forward to seeing more original Xbox titles being released in the future, and Team XLink will continue to strive and fill in the gaps where we're needed.

As a temporary measure, you can also change your Xbox One's MAC address to one that is supported by Kai
Open Settings on the Xbox One
In the Console section select Network
Select Advanced settings
Select Alternate MAC address
Type in the alternate MAC address starting with any of the ranges listed above.
You will have to restart the console for the change to take effect. |

So just out of curiosity, does the Xbox One actually take physical original Xbox games (my brain hurts just forming that sentence it sounds so wrong lol) or are these downloadable only titles? I'm he, I don't have an Xbox one yet, but plan on getting one. If the games are digital only, can players on Xbox one play with other players who are using the classic console or is it separated somehow? |

Both!
I still had my physical copy of KotOR, and it works just by inserting it into the drive. However, it does download the digital version, as the disc only serves the purpose of verifying that you own it. And of course, you can buy and download the game for $10 on the Marketplace or MS Store.
Edit: Yes, you can also play multiplayer with people across ALL generations of Xbox. |

Both!
