I was notified earlier this month that Planex has elected to discontinue its support of the Team XLink project and XLink Kai services. Though this is disappointing news, such business decisions are unavoidable and we remain grateful to Planex for the support they have shown us over the past six years.

As a result of this change, some adjustments to our infrastructure have been implemented: all Japanese Orbitals have been removed and the main site has been migrated to a new server provided by SgtLegend. Future changes may be required including limiting access to Kai services by console, geography, or vendor hardware id.

We hope to keep XLink Kai running for as long as there are players interested in our service but the reality is with no sponsorship, advertisements, or membership fees, all the hard costs for running Kai is currently being paid by Mods and Admins who already receive no compensation for their time.

How much do you need a month to keep the servers alive?

Hard to say because it varies with the number of users. Around $100-$150 would be my best guess. Not very much in the greater scheme of things, I know.

Right now, Sgt. Legend has donated VPS space for the main server, but it's really not fair to have Team Members pay for it since they already donate their time for free. I cover two Orbitals and numerous yearly domain name renewals. Other than that, there are no hard costs.

Along with helping to keep XLink Kai alive for all its active clients I've donated a new server to prestige so we now have an Australian orbital server for the first time.

Listen man, I wouldn't mind donating a bit of money to keep this alive.

Would you accept a donation coming through Western Union?
Could we coordinate to make it work?
