If you are getting the 'HKCR\http\shell\open\DDEExec\topic' error simply try the following.
To ensure you can restore the registry values please make a backup before continuing by using one of the following tools:
Once you have made a backup please continue on with the following:
Enter the Windows registry
Vista/7 users
Click the start menu icon, type regedit.exe into the search box then hit enter.
Windows XP users
To open the regedit.exe file simply click the start menu button and on the right click Run, type in regedit.exe and click the OK button.
Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTP\shell\open\ddeexec and delete the "ddeexec folder", doing so should get rid of the error.
Restart Xlink Kai.
If method one wont work recreate the "DDEExec folder" or run the backup you created beforehand.
- Do a right click on the "Open folder" of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTP\shell\open, choose Key and name it DDEExec a new subfolder should appear.
- Do a right click on the "DDEExec" folder and choose Key and name it "Topic" another subfolder should appear.
- Select the "Topic" folder do a right click and select "Subkey" right click on the new created Key and choose Modify and put "WWW_OpenURL" under value, it should look like this--> http://postimage.org/image/h6q2nxqy9/
Restart Xlink Kai thats it.
