FARCRY you dont have to get narky, im saying what i said because to implement these features you need access to the server and you would have to know how to add certain features to the orbs.
Now you may be right but the last time i checked only prestige and MeanMF can do that. The features that you explained would be great to have added but no normal user in this life would ever be able to make them run without have full access to the core of XLink
prestige or MeanMF can explain more what needs to be done but i know that you need this 2 master coders to make it happen. If any user could add features to Kai you would see heaps of different version of XLink around for download. But since you cant keep on with the ideas but dont try to have them implemented ASAP.
I know i may seem like a know it all but ive used XLink long enough to know how it runs and what you need to do to have new features |

How about we just stop bitching at each other, and come up with a few good ideas for future fixes/features? There's bound to be something possible thought of sooner or later |

Ya I'm aware of the arguments for the friends list being left the way it is. But, here's the way I see it. There are two kinds of people:
1. Those who want to play only what they have in mind, or only with their select friends/clan/buddies. These people probably don't want to be bothered, EVER.
2. Then there are people who are actually looking for random people to play with, they don't really care with who. They just want to play games with other people. After all, if they want to play by themselves they would just play single player and never even come on kai. I would love it if random people would msg me to invite me to games that they're hosting. I take my internet with plenty of randomness, enjoy it, and am entertained by it. Having it only as it is now makes it seem like very closed community. Take in essence this analogy where two people may want to say hi to each other, but must first schedule and give each other permission of their appointment of saying hi to each other. Why can't we just say hi to each other and avoid the riff raff?
The point is, there are two sides of stick and I'm sure many people can relate to #2. Right now, we're blocking out the #2's... So how can we serve both player personalities? I say you should be able to switch a configuration setting to private or public setting, so you can choose to get msgs from people you know only or from anyone..etc.. You can choose to be seen on other people's friends list even if they're not on yours..etc.. by simply setting your profile to "public". This way we can cater to both types of players and encourage more gameplay at the same time.
Talking about ideas for the improving friends list goes off a little on a tangent, and not what I was originally trying to say. But heck, its a good idea might as well say it.
BUT -> what I originally meant when I talked about the friends list is that a good feature once you host a game on xlink would be to invite all players who have this game in their profile with just a click of a button, or invite all those on your friends list who have that game..etc.. That's 1 button to invite a bunch of people, easy pizy. (right now you have to click a little icon next a person's name 10 times to invite 10 people from your friends list)
Just imagine how great it would be if you had your profile setting on "public" and someone just hosted your [favorite game, rarely played game] and you were instantly alerted of it. That's the big problem with hosting games that aren't played much, nobody knows about, and people become used to thinking that not many people play it, so they don't check it as often. What a rat race it is to constantly check different arenas to see if people are in them. I'd rather just be alerted about it. If this feature takes up a lot of bandwidth, then I'd say you could minimize it by allowing users to customize what games they'd like to receive alerts from..etc.. I'm sure you can strike halo 2 off that list.
@Legend: Wasn't trying to disrespect you, just throwing a joke out. I did notice how you were understanding in all of your posts when you rejected ideas..etc.. I understand the reasons and I welcome constructive criticism, that's why I started the thread not just to say them, but to discuss them. |

Sorry but i had to point this out just as an observation and not to be negative cuz i love your ideas theyre great.
The thread is called "Solution for increased gameplay in xlink, can you add this?" not lets discuss new ideas for future release of kai. this thread got high jacked for the better turning into you expressing your ideas and people giving their comment on them and seasoned vets (legend you havent been here long but get that title just cuz )saying no it wont be added for a loooong time.
Ur a little before your time Farcry. Sit back and enjoy the game untill things are fixed and everyone can get online with out a hitch. |

We could always set these as an ultimate goal, implement them little by little
all of these could be added with some little time.

Here's some example pics of what I mean about the alerts...
Here you have an unintrusive design that fits into the existing UI, where you can see & receive your alerts you set for certain games by pushing the little alert symbol at the top/ OR it will prompt you automatically. The point is something thats effective but does not bother the user.
Here's a pic of what the configuration tool could look like for selecting which games you want to be alerted of. You could also make the user change these settings in their online profile & not in their config file..etc..
I say you can choose to prompt the user to these alerts 2 ways:
1. Whenever a game is hosted or people are present in this room, the user can receive an alert.
2. OR: whenever a user hosts a game in an arena and then presses the "Invite users with this game" button. This way you will force the user to use this alert system to reduce bandwidth and make it very intentional, making no accidental invites. |
