Yep, we are at $288 so far... ten more donations at $20 or 20 more at $10 will get us there...

I've scheduled and confirmed my appointment at the co-location center this Saturday for the server upgrade. This means I must order the hardware and prepare for the install in the next 24 hours. We are $200 shy of the upgrade goal. If you are considering donating but haven't gotten around to it, please go to the main TX page and do so now; time is almost up.

As a small token of thanks to all those who have donated, we would like to invite you to a limited sneak preview of XLink::One which is currently scheduled to take place on Saturday June 3rd. This invitation will include priority access to register your prefered XLink::One username and a link to download the latest developer edition of the client.

I have removed the donation link from the main website and will be picking up the new hardware in about an hour's time. My sincerest heart-felt thanks to all those who contributed and to those who would have liked to but could not because we only accepted paypal payments.

I will be buying the following for this Saturday's upgrade ($CDN):

1 x CPU: Intel Pentium D 805, 2.66GHz - $159.99
2 x RAM: Corsair DD2 667MHz 1 GB - $226.00
1 x MB: Asus P5RD2-VM - $88.99

Total Cost: $474.98
Including Taxes: $546.22

The donation statistics are as follows:

Number of Donations: 32
% of Active Users Donating: 2-3%
Total Amount Donated: $443 USD
Converted to CDN less Paypal Charges: $448.71 CDN

I am very pleased with the response we received and would like to extend a special "Thank You" to a few familiar faces who dug down very very deep to help us reach this goal.

Thank you!

I hope you got a good mobo for overclocking because I believ the 805D is the record breaking OCer at the moment ramping up to over 3 Ghz easily on air.

WOW!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy This is both unexpected, and much appreciated. Helping you guys buy a server is the least every single one of us should be doing. If you need more help in the future, we will come through for the XLink team.

By the way, will the invite be sent to the email address we used when we made our donations at PayPal?
Cheers,
Dano

just a quick update. I upgrade the server today. We had some minor issues with the database, but other than that everything is going smoothly.

MeanMF ran a MySQL query test. On the old hardware it took 20 seconds for the query to complete. On the new system the same query completed in 2 seconds. More imporantly to us, on the old system the X1 orbital took 36 seconds to start. On the new system, it takes 6 seconds.

Now that's an improvement!

One last time, thank you all for helping us out in meeting the hardware requirements for the future of Team XLink.
