In addition to beating Ghana, the U.S. team needs one of the following scenarios to take place:
HOW THE USA CAN ADVANCE
1. Italy defeats the Czech Republic.
2. Italy ties the Czech Republic 0-0 or 1-1 AND the United States beats Ghana by at least four goals.
3. Italy ties the Czech Republic 2-2 or with a higher score AND the United States beats Ghana by five or more goals.
4. Italy ties the Czech Republic 2-2 or with a higher score AND the United States beats Ghana by four goals AND the U.S. team scores at least three goals more than the Czechs do in their tie.
5. The Czech Republic beats Italy AND the total combined margin of victory for the Americans and Czechs is six or more.
6. The Czech Republic beats Italy AND the total combined margin of victory for the Americans and Czechs is five AND the U.S. team scores at least three goals more than the Italians do in their loss.
7. The Czech Republic beats Italy AND the total combined margin of victory for the Americans and Czechs is five AND the U.S. team scores exactly two more goals than the Italians do in their loss AND the Americans win a drawing of lots by FIFA. |
Yikes. Viva l'Italia! |

Ok let's speak of the most boring disappointing game thus far.
Argentina vs Netherlands yesterday. Final score 0-0
These two teams both knew they were going to the next round so I think they just saved it til then.
This would kind of suck for the people who paid $700.00 per ticket.
Go Holland

Bad management, Most talented team USA has ever had and yet the coach didn't put people where they could have been succesful. Not to mention the refs blowing the PK call, costing us. I hate Soccer AKA football...to many boofs out of the players control. |

I missed most of the 2nd half, but I guess I didn't miss much.. I agree on the PK call, but that's the way it's gone all tournament - only in this case the US didn't get a make-up call like Italy did in the last game. So Italy and Ghana(!) advance, US and Czech Republic go home. |

A big FUCK YOU to every single person who has doubted Australia (I'm talking about Bruce Arena and his shit American squad who said Australia was on par with T&T and were there to make up the numbers).
Considering we've had the worst refereeing of all the tournament for every game, we've done exceptionally well.
So yeah, a big FUCK YOU to all those people. Nothing beats 30000 people terrorising through the streets of Melbourne in the main intersections causing traffic chaos. Being in the middle of it as people climb aboard trucks in traffic, trams, trees, it's awesome.
Hiddink is a legend. Can't wait for the Italy game!
You guys are lucky you can watch the games in prime-time. The games start from 11pm until 9am over here :/ |

haha i actually thought that headline was funny!
In the article though, there was a line that seemed to try and devaluate the whole sitatuation
Quote: |
And had it not been for the incredible strike from Rodriguez, it would likely have been going to penalty kicks. |
I agree that Mexico did put up a strong fight (and I wouldnt be suprised if they dominated much of the game). It makes it seem like the goal was a lucky strike! Blech, Argentina dominated that run even though the odds where against them there with pure skill, no coincidence (there was a defender stuck on Rodriguez the whole time, yet he still found the opening!)
Great game though, I was at the edge of my seat the whole time! |
