I don't think he meant it was lucky.. It was just a very rare opportunity in overtime since both teams were pretty worn out and had no substitutions left.

Riot police have been removing England supporters from Stuttgart's main square after chairs and bottles were thrown by small groups of rival fans.
Police have so far arrested 150 England fans who were being held together in a corner of the city's main square. That figure is expected to rise to 250.

The square was filled with thousands watching the Argentina vs Mexico match on the big screen.

England fans arrested are likely to be held in custody until Monday night.

A further 122 England supporters arrested in Stuttgart on Friday night are also expected to be held until after Sunday's game against Ecuador.

Police had surrounded fans in the square before gradually leading them away.

1-0 phew -- watching England is bloody painful Ecuador made us work for that!

As for the above its a bloody shame that some people feel the need to get rowdy when they are on the piss, but the truth is 250 sounds like alot but it really is just the minority.

Yeah good one, Laughing

We have the same slang too so he's unlikely to be happy about that!!

If you saw the game you'd understand what it was all about he took a free kick which bent over the wall into the near side top left hand corner, a good goal by anyone's measure.

Well it's a sad sad day. Holland is out of the running. In my opinion the Portuguese played a dirty game but they had the better defense.
Crying or Very sad

Well now to cheer for my second favorite team.

Go England Very Happy

Yeh well he's classy int he Laughing

The Ozzies will be upset to have lost after their match I thought they played well. They made some real opportunities.

It ended 1-0 with a 'controversial' penalty in the last minute of normal time.

Nahh.... England will come good. Portugal will have to fight all the way if they are going to beat the Poms!!

As for my team, the Azzurri robbed us of what we truely deserved..that was to beat them!! Good on em for being such a tough team to beat, but it's a shit way to loose and a shit way to leave the tournament. The Ref got it wrong!!!

Grosso took the fall, he is lesser of a player for doing so. Real football teams win on their own merits, not some ghay phillosiphy that they own football and deserve to go thru cause they've been champions 3 times in the last 100 years...

Go the Aussies for 2010 in South Africa!! Smile

regarding the aus / ita game, it's just natural for them to be lucky, it's the azzuri way. look at the teams they're matched up with... first aus, now ukr, they don't play the "powerhouses" like all the other teams do.

England World Cup Fans Reportedly "Drinking Germany Dry"

June 28, 2006 2:00 p.m. EST

Nuremberg, England (AHN) - England's s massive army of World Cup fans is reportedly drinking Germany dry, with breweries warning beer could run out before the final game because of huge demand from supporters.

In Nuremberg, organizers revealed 70,000 England fans who flooded the city drank 1.2 million pints of beer-an average of 17 pints each.

According to the Daily Mirror report, one astonished bar keeper Herrmann Murr says, "Never have I seen so many drink so much in such little time," with fans draining all 32 of his 50-liter (11 gallon) barrels available at his city bar.

Murr calculated Britons were shifting beer at a staggering rate of 200 pints per minute.

According to City official Peter Murrmann, "The English proved themselves world champs. They practically drank us dry."

Stuttgart bar chiefs say an extra 900,000 pints were drained last weekend where 60,000 fans partied before and after the 1-0 win over Ecuador. Meanwhile, the Veltins brewery also revealed it produced a record 418,000 gallons in a bid to keep up with demand.

A spokesman says, "It is incredible how much is being drunk but the hardest thing for the breweries is keeping up with the thirst of the English."

You could be right there AmO...but if Germany shutdown the Argentine forwards and the Germany frontman push forward with that deadly German tactical play you might see the score reversed there mate.... This is one game I wont be missing..even if I have to sacrafice sleep..Im gonna watch it.!!

I like both teams..but if I was betting..Id take the team with the hometown advantage..!!
