can your buddy connect to other people besides you ?

establishing link means hes behind a firewall or using a router and needs to portforward ..

Yes, both he and I can connect to other people, just not each other.

hmm .. you both should try using a portforward .. see if that gets the establishing link to a ping ..

forward port 30000 UDP to the ip of your computer running kai ..

www.portforward.com

then add 30000 to the Kai Port box in the Kai Config ..

We can try that but right now both of use have DMZ on the computer running Kai.

Edit: New info... we can not ping each others IP address.

are both your internet ips /subnets /gateways similar ? maybe the isp has an internal DHCP server with a proxy and your directly on 2 different subnets , and u can play with others since you both are out of the proxy when connetected .. or not .. :]

That is your problem then Smile

Your sending the ping out the ISP's router when the destination is still internal.
Without knowing your ISP's network I can't offer much advice. They should not be trying to route an internal IP out there gateway. That's just dumb.

You do get real Public IP's correct?

You can both join the same game that is hosted by someone else right?

Can both of you plug your xbox directly into the cable line and play system link? hehe

You do get real Public IP's correct? Yes we do have real ips

Can both of you plug your xbox directly into the cable line and play system link? hehe I have not tried that... or are you joking?

also we can see each other on kai, just that we get establishing connection...

So there is no hope to ever get this working right?

Edit: I was just told by my ISP that they block direct connections to Ip addresses on the network for security reasons. Sad So I guess we are SOL as Kai requires this correct?

Ha that is BS they are feeding you.
Your able to play on Kai, just not with each other as i understand it. So obviously your getting direct connections to your IP's or you would not be able to game at all.

As for playing system link with your Xbox plugged in directly, I was half joking Smile If your on the same subnet/network it should work. (as long as the modem is routing all packets) But I would not call that a solution unless that is all your trying to accomplish Wink

There is not much we can do about the fact your ISP doesn't allow you to connect to other users on your network. Sorry.
