Now before you flame me to death please hear me out.

Ive never had to use a w/less card before so just started searching about this magic "promiscuous " mode card. Now i have seen the numerous links that forward you to a thread stating capatible network cards for psp.

http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5154&highlight=promiscuous+mode

I am also now very clued up on what promiscuous mode is, i am however having trouble locating a list of guarenteed cards. (except the psp compatible cards thread which nowhere states the word "promiscuous".

I want to use this card as a wireless connection between pc and router, the xbox will be x-overed to pc. All i want to know is are the network cards in the psp compatible list also xbox compatible and if so, are all of these promiscuous mode compatible?

Have no issues with either PCI or usb, if you have a recommendation of a quality card i am very interested. Not interested in poor build quality or cheap imports.

Many thanks Daz Question

Go read the info again Very HappyVery Happy Why do you need promiscuous mode between PC and router? It's only needed between PC and Xbox - and if you're hardwiring that, you dont need to care about the PC to router card - so just buy anything - prom. mode or not.

There's no real difference between USB, PCI, whatever really - but I'd go for PCI just for neatness.

lol,

Well i'll be damned, seen so many threads with people going nuts about promiscuous that thought it applied but if any old w/less card will do then i'm laughing. means i can use the 108 Mbps d-link that came with router Smile

Fantastic thanks for your info, just saved me a packet Smile

Umm, My understanding was that if you are hardwired to the console and wireless to the router you need Promiscuous mode, the image below is from setup F which states the following warning.

Important Note: Setup F will only work for you if your wireless network card performs in promiscuous mode. Please read the section on Incompatible Wireless Network Cards below for more information.

Arg Very Happy Does nobody ready anymore Very Happy

The tricky bit in what we do is Engine PC <--> Console .. you need prom. for that. The Engine PC <--> Internet side is easy - is just works.
