Does Intel Pro/Wireless 2200bg allow promicuous mode? What if I use Ubuntu?
I want to bridge my xbox and PC with normal RJ45 cable instead of crossover using a hub. Will it work?

You need to choose the card the xbox is connected through in your kai configuration, and enable internet connection sharing (ICS) for that card. |

Thanks I gotta try that. I just got my halo 2 and map packs. Hopefully my setup works.
update: I finally got it to work. If anyone wants to know, the settings are as follows:
1. Connect your wireless network.
2. Right click the ethernet icon in "network connections". Select "properties".
3. I don't remember exactly which tab but you could edit default gateway, sub net mask, etc there.
Once you found that section, enter the following:
-Default gateway: 192.168.2.1 (Specified by your hub. Check the user manual on how to change it. Make sure it has a different default gateway than your wireless card. In my case it's 192.168.0.1)
-Sub net mask: 255.255.255.0 (Entered by default.)
-IP address: 192.168.2.101 (You might have to try a different one. In my case, the ethernet is assigned 192.168.2.101 and my Xbox 192.168.2.102)
*If you are unsure about the above settings, please configure your hub. I don't remember the specific settings of my hub (like dhcp or static) but I'll find out and give back the info.
4. Click ok and close everything. Go back to "network connections".
5. Right click the ethernet icon and select "properties".
6. Make sure "internet connection sharing" is not checked.
7. Click ok and close everything. Go back to "network connections".
8. While connected to wireless network, highlight the wireless AND
ethernet icons. Right click and select "bridge connections".
9. Now make sure the cables are all connected and power on the hub.
10. Launch xlink config and select the ethernet card as the source.
11. Launch a game and set it to look for system link games. |
